Comments:

I graduated from UC Davis in 1973 with a BA in French, in 1975 with a MA in French, and in 1977 with a Teaching Credential. I have been working at Cal since 1986, and I am currently on the Board of Directors of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.

I taught high school and college for many years (UC Davis as a TA, Corning High School, and Napa and Solano Colleges). I also worked as a "Crockette" -- Construction Finance Officer at Crocker Bank in SF. After that, I came to Cal, where I've been ever since in a variety of roles.

It's been quite a while since I updated my profile. Sadly, this year, I lost my husband of 35 years after a 24-year long battle with cancer. He fought up until the end, but it just overwhelmed him.

6 weeks before, I had bilateral knee replacement. My cousin was right -- it makes a world of difference. I no longer have any pain in my knees, and walking is once again a pleasure.

School Story:

I don't think I will ever forget Stan Bowman in all his dyed glory!

Happy birthday, cousin! I had double knee replacement a little over a year ago, and you were right -- it's amazing the difference it makes. Gentle reminder -- you promised at our last reunion to tell me what your mom knew about my Grandma Berg -- the whole left on a doorstep thing. I'd really like to know.

Barb,

I hope you came through the fire successfully. We need to get together soon.

Catharine,

It was lovely to hear your update. Based on your profile, it looks like you've moved back to the Bay Area. It would be lovely to get together.

I've had an interesting (because not of the other adjectives are printable) year. I had double knee replacement in November, lost 93 pounds, and my husband lost his 24-year fight with cancer in January. This past month, my brother's home (on Coombsville) was under an evacuation advisory, but fortunately all went well. I'm planning to retire in June, following a 31+ year career at UC Berkeley. I'm still not quite sure what I will do, but I'm ready to explore new options.

Best,
Jan

Happy birthday (almost)! It seems like it's been a long time since our reunion. Napa is still recovering from that earthquake.

John, when you have time, could you please share with me what Cousin Violet told you about Grandma Berg and her adoption? I'd really like to know so I can share it with my brother.
I'm looking at getting two new knees fairly soon, perhaps in 2016. Wish me luck!

Hey, cousin -- Happy Birthday! I hope you survived the rain we sent your way -- it was pretty amazing up here.

Just a reminder -- you said you had information about my grandmother, Clara Berg, and the story about how she was left on the Jacks' doorstep. I'm really interested to learn what you know. If you have time, please email me this news.

Best,
Jan
